Attract China Names Cecilia Chan to Board of Advisors

Boston, MA. May 19, 2014 — Attract China LLC, The Leading Gateway to the Chinese Traveler, today announced that it has appointed Cecilia Chan to the company’s board of advisors. Chan, the managing director of Meridian Media Advisors, a corporate finance consulting firm based in Los Angeles, New York and London, has 29 years of experience in direct investments and business development, and has been involved with investments totaling more than $1 billion. Chan spends extended periods of time in China for work and philanthropic commitments enabling her to bring a distinct point of view to Attract China’s board of advisors.

“Cecilia brings a wealth of cultural investment knowledge to our board,” said Evan Saunders, CEO and co-founder of Attract China. “Her insight will be incredibly valuable to us as we continue to build partnerships with key investors.”

During her career, Chan has developed and funded private equity investments in both the U.S. and China, including facial recognition and hi-speed video scanning technology, a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on creating new drugs to treat infectious diseases and Century Glory, a business that helps students with improved learning tools and programs.

“Attract China is at the forefront of one of the biggest consumer trends in history,” said Chan. “Their knowledge of the independent Chinese traveler is unparalleled and I look forward to helping them expand their markets in both China and the U.S.”

“We’re thrilled to have Cecilia on our advisory board,’’ said Melinda Bush, chairman of Attract China. “Her extensive experience in business development and investments will be an invaluable asset as we continue to expand in new markets.”

Chan is deeply committed to philanthropic efforts that support education and sustainable positive changes. She founded the Siezen Foundation, a nonprofit that works to preserve the testimonies of the last survivors of the 1937 Nanjing Massacre. She is also a trustee of Facing History and Ourselves, a member of the Dean’s Council of Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government and sits on the benefit committee of Steven Spielberg’s Shoah Foundation. She holds a bachelor of science degree in international business from New York University.

Chan’s appointment follows hospitality veteran Joe McInerney, emeritus president and chief executive officer of American Hotel & Lodging Association, who joined Attract China’s board of advisors in April.
